PIQE’s Los Angeles regional office was founded in 1992. Since its inception, the Los Angeles office has served over 769 schools in 50 school districts within the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura. This office has graduated more than 200,345 parents from PIQE’s programs, thus enhancing the education of approximately 600,000 students.
Mayra Rivero – Executive Director
Mayra Rivero currently serves as the Executive Director for PIQE’s Los Angeles Regional Office. She provides leadership and guidance by analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of operations in partnership with senior management to plan the future growth of PIQE in the region that includes strategic responses to education and industry trends.
In 2004 when her oldest son was in 2nd grade, Ms. Rivero participated in PIQE workshops where she first fell in love with the program. She joined the PIQE team in 2005 as a facilitator and in 2006 was promoted to Associate Director where she worked for eight years coordinating and implementing the workshops. In 2014 Ms. Rivero worked as a community organizer with SBCC Thrive LA, a strategic partner with First 5 LA, Best Start Program, supporting and advocating for families with children ages 0-5 years old in South Los Angeles. Ms. Rivero continued as a PIQE facilitator at various schools in the LA area.In 2015, she became a Community Organizer Supervisor where she developed relationships to advance program goals with a diverse set of community residents, community-based organizations and other stakeholders in South Los Angeles. She returned to PIQE as a Deputy Director in 2017.
Born in México City and raised in Mérida Yucatán, Mexico,Mrs. Rivero earned a B.A in Special Education fromla Escuela de EspecializaciónPsicopedagógica, with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities and GIFTED students.Continuing her service of working with special needs children, she also participated in coordinating the National Special Olympics in her hometown.During her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, hiking, and spending time with her family. Her most cherished achievement is being aproud mother of two amazing boys, Jose Eduardo and Ruben Alejandro.
